Most of us looking at the chaotic landscape of this administration feel that our country has certainly lost its compass. It's not clear how much impact a talent show can have, but what we can do is be vocal about what we value, and use this as a forum to help formulate acts of resistance.
Come share your music, poetry, dance, video, puppetry, or obscure art form. Performers are treated with food, and can win modest cash prizes every month. Join the creative resistance! |

Charcuterie and a variety of small plates, including gorgonzola and goat cheeses, Prosciutto di Parma, Vegetarian Lumpia, Patatas Bravas, Peppered mushrooms, and other Spanish-style delights made by Irving Street Tapas!
The charcuterie plate, which is awesomely delicious and ample food, will be offered to groups of three or more who develop a play, dance, skit, or other performance with at least three people. If you are a solo performer you will have your choice of small plates, accompanied by rice or bread! |
Each round takes place over four weeks: for three weeks, pretty much anything goes at the talent shows. During these three weeks, open mic participants will be judged by popular vote, and the best performances will be invited back for a theater performance on the fourth week.
On the fourth week, the theater performance will be an admission event, and elements such as lighting, props, sound effects, and all the aspects of theater that will help make the show memorable, will be worked on. Performances on the fourth Sunday will be ranked by an outside judge and the top three performers will receive a modest cash prize! |
